SHERWOOD, Ohio — Lawrence John “Shorty” Eatwell, 81, of Sherwood, Ohio, died Monday, June 11, 2007 at the Inpatient Hospice Facility in Defiance, Ohio. He was a self employed carpenter and farmer. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was born Jan., 27, 1926, in Mingo. He was the son of John and Florence (Rollings) Eatwell. He married Adelaide (Durby) Fisher on Jan., 29, 1984 in Nevada.

Survivors include his wife, Adelaide of Defiance, Ohio; two step-daughters, Nancy (Jim) Speiser of Defiance, Ohio, Brenda (John) English of Bryan, Ohio; four step-sons, Harlan (Paula) Fisher of Texas, Arlo (Connie) Fisher, Kevin (Sara) Fisher and Lyle Fisher, all of North Carolina, and Bradley (Kelly) Fisher of Iowa; two brothers, John and Loren Eatwell of Iowa; three sisters, Bonnie Ferguson and Betty Reed of Iowa and Shirley Eatwell of Illinois; many step-grandchildren; and step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant step-son, Spencer Fisher.

Graveside funeral services will be on Thursday, June 14, at 3 p.m. at the Sherwood Cemetery with the Rev. Ned Speiser officiating. The Burr Funeral Home & Crematory of Sherwood, Ohio, is in charge of the arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Defiance Inpatient Hospice Facility or the Activity Fund of Brookview Nursing Care Center.
