Marilyn A. Crawford, 70, of Newton died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at her home in Newton.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Newton with Father Ernie Braida officiating.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Newton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Hospice of Jasper County or the Jasper County Animal Rescue League.

The daughter of John and Helen (Wierman) Harms, she was born July 14, 1936, in Newton. She was united in marriage to John C. Crawford on Jan. 2, 1960 in Newton. A 1956 graduate of Newton Senior High School, she was a secretary at Skiff Medical Center, Denniston and Partidge Lumber and Merchant Transfer Company.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the UAW Local 997 Women’s Auxilary. She enjoyed being with her family and friends and also enjoyed shopping and her flower gardens.

Survivors include her husband, John; one daughter, Lori M. Crawford of Newton; one son, Chris Crawford of Newton; one brother-in-law, Paul Casper of Newton; one sister-in-law, Phyllis Crawford of Des Moines; one aunt, Pat Wierman of Newton; Many nieces and nephews including Debbie Casper Mettler and John Casper; and her beloved dog, Abby.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Carolyn Casper.
