Ada M. Clymer, 96, of Newton, formerly of Prairie City, died Wednesday, June 13, 2007, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services will be Monday, June 18 at the Prairie City Christian Church in Prairie City at 10:30 a.m. with burial following at the Waveland Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday at the Coburn Funeral Home of Prairie City from 4 to 8 p.m. with the family present to greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials may be designated to the American Cancer Society or the Newton Public Library in Newton.

The daughter of Johannes “JD” and Janetta (Van Peursem) Stravers, she was born Oct. 4, 1910, in Otley, and christened Adriana Maria. She graduated from Prairie City High School in 1928 and was united in marriage to William F. Clymer April 6, 1929, in Newton. She was a Prairie City resident from 1929 to 1968, at which time she moved to Newton, where she worked for several years at the Newton Country Club and where she resided until her death.

She was a member of the Prairie City Christian Church in Prairie City and also attended the Immanuel Baptist Church while living in Newton.

Those left to honor her memory are her daughter, Norma Ali of West Des Moines; her son, Melburn (Jayne) Clymer of Colfax; six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one grandchild; five brothers; and one sister.
