Gertrude Reed dies recently

WASHINGTON - Gertrude Reed, 97, a former Newton resident, died recently at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington, Iowa.

Memorial services were held at the Newton Union Cemetery.

Survivors include a daughter, Frances Maurer of Herndon, Va., a sister, Kathryn Johnson, a resident of the United Presbyterian Home, a niece, Joann Torrence of Sunrise, Fla., and five nephews, Rolland Singer of Iowa City, Bryant Denniston of Newton, Bill Singer of Ames, Bud Singer of near Garwin and Robert Denniston of the Virgin Islands.

Mrs. Reed was a native of Monmouth, Ill. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, January 1983
