Gerald Terpstra

PELLA - Gerald Terpstra, 73, of Pella, a former resident of the Galesburg community in Jasper County, died Thursday, June 20, at the Pella Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Pella Trininty Reformed Church.

The Rev. Kenneth Dykstra and the Rev. Cornie Hoekstra will conduct services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Family visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Pella Garden Chapel Funeral Home.

Memorials to the Heartland Reformed Church in Pella may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Jean; a daughter, Marlene (Mrs. Harry) Hartgers of Pella; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Cecil and Robert, both of Pella; and two sisters, Crystal (Mrs. John) Vander Werff of Pella and Betty (Mrs. Edward) Aalbers of Pella.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald, in 1952.

Mr. Terpstra was a member of the Heartland Reformed Church in Pella.

The son of Gerrit and Maria Vande Voort Terpstra, he was born Oct. 8, 1917 in Ocheyeden and moved with his family to the Galesburg area and later to Pella.

He was married to Jean N. Meulpolder July 5, 1937 in Lancaster, Mo.

They resided on farms in the Pella area for many years. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1991
