FREEPORT, Ill. - Lydia I. Tendick, 97, of Freeport, Ill., a former resident of Baxter, died monday, June 3, at the Freeport Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services wil be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Zion Church in Freeport. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Pearl City, Ill.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Schwarz Funeral Home in Freeport and after 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials to the church will be accepted.

She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Armin H. Tendick, former pastor of the Bethany United Church of Christ, east of Baxter; a daughter Irma Rosenwald of Sauk Village, Ill.; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Olga Meyer of Midland, Mich.

A native of Pearl City, Ill., Mrs. Tendick majored in music at Heidelberg College in Heidelberg, Ohio.

She taught piano and pipe organ and assisted her husband in various churches in Iowa until their retirement in 1966.

She was married to the Rev. Armin H. Tendick Feb. 8, 1928 in the Zion Church in Freeport and the couple observed their 63rd wedding anniversary recently. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1991
