Leonard Neels

PELLA - Leonard Neels, 81, of Pella, a former resident of the Sully area, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the Pella Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

The Rev. John Gorten, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Friends may call Thursday at the Pella Garden Chapel Funeral Home.

Memorials to the Calvary Christian Reformed Church may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are two sons, Willis of Sioux Falls, S. D., and Roger of Montezuma; a daughter, Loretta Thomas of Sioux Falls, S. D.; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Jeanette Elsloo of Pella, Nellie Veldhuizen of Oskaloosa and Irene Settle of Nashville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Margaret, and a sister Wilma Veldhuizen.

He was a member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Pella.

Mr. Neels was a retired Pella Rolscreen Co., employee.

The son of Tunis and Anna Swank Neels, he was born Aug. 13, 1910 in Oskaloosa.

He was married to Margaret Stouwie June 27, 1935 in Oskaloosa.

Mr. Neels resided most of his life in the Oskaloosa, Sully and Pella areas. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, September 1991
