Roy Neufarth, 79, of 1313 E. 7th St. S., died today, Nov. 16, at the Des Moines General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Wednesday.

Visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1992

Roy J. Neufarth

Funeral services for Roy J. Neufarth, 79 of 1313 E. 7th St. S., a resident of Newton since 1926, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 19 at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Robert Shaw, pastor of the United Pentecostal Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery in rural Newton.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Wednesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials in his name will be accepted.

He died Monday morning at Des Moines General Hospital of a stroke.

Survivors are a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and LeVesta Neufarth of Newton; two nephews; and nieces, Cynda Doland of Newton; eight great-nephews; and a great-great-great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Adeline E. Neufarth, in 1990.

Mr. Neufarth, an Army veteran of World War II, was a member of the Newton American Legion Post 111, 40 and 8 and Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1655.

Mr. Neufarth, a retired Parsons Co. machinist, was a volunteer at the Veterans Hospital in Knoxville for the past 35 years.

The son of Edward William and Marjorie Rose Fortner Neufarth, he was born February 1, 1913 in Hiteman and was graduated from Newton Community High School. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1992
