Adeline E. Neufarth

Adeline E. Neufarth, 71, of 1313 E. 7th St. S., a longtime resident of Newton, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Des Moines General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Thursday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials in her name will be accepted.

Survivors are two brothers, Paul Henry Neufarth and Roy Jasper Neufarth, both of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Miss Neufarth was a member of the Church of Christ Temple Lot of Independence, Mo., United Auto Workers, Local 997, Retirees Union, American Legion LaFemmes and Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was a volunteer at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Knoxville for 10 years.

Miss Neufarth had worked in the Ankey Ordnance plant during World War II, started at the Maytag Co., as a cap maker in 1944 on the assembly line, and later became an inspector. She retired May 31, 1976 after more than 32 years.

The daughter of Edward William and Marjorie Rose Fortner Neufarth, she was born Dec. 24, 1919 in Albia and was graduated from Newton Community High School. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1990
