Lloyd J. Ellenwood

KELLOGG - Lloyd J. Ellenwood, 68, of 212 Bolton St., Kellogg, a resident of Kellogg since 1981 and former resident of Newton, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 2, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of renal failure.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton.

The Rev. Danny Hodges, pastor of the Grace Community Church in Grinnell, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Friday and visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials to a fund in his name will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Dorothy; three sons and daughters-in-law, Randy Smith of Newton, Terry and Denise Ellenwood of Kellogg and Scott and Sharon Ellenwood of Spencer; three daughters and sons-in-law, Dana and Larry Beck and Bev and Gary Price, all of Newton, and Pam and Norm Jones of Marshalltown; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Also surviving are a brother, Raymond of Arvada, Colo.; and four sisters, Louise Birkenholtz, Iva Lou (Mrs. Warren) Schomer and Edna Mae (Mrs. Gerald) Edge, all of Newton, and Lucille Curry of Dubuque.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Clifford, and two sisters, Maxine Lahey and Opal Couch.

Mr. Ellenwood was a member of the Grace Community Church in Grinnell, Maytag Management Club and Newton American Legion Post 111.

Mr. Ellenwood, a former employee of the sheet metal department at the Maytag Co., retired in 1987.

He had served in the Air Force and for 21 years in the Iowa National Guard.

The son of Harry and Florence Nungesser Ellenwood, he was born march 8, 1926 in Menlo and was graduated from Newton Community High School.

He was married to Dorothy Mc Carty June 29, 1974 in Nevada. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1994
