Betty J. Pickett

Betty Jean Pickett, 50, of 807 E. 8th St. S., died Saturday morning, March 23, at her home of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral home.

The Rev. Bernie Payne of Des Moines will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society or Jasper County Hospice may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, Donald; two sons, Terry and Alvin, both of Newton; two daughters, Tammy (Mrs. Shawn) Welcher and Jennifer Pickett, both of Newton; three grandchildren; her mother, Catherine Eubanks of Knoxville, Tenn.; and a brother, Kenneth Eubanks of Knoxville, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Mrs. Pickett, a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, was a homemaker and subcontractor for the Vernon Co.

She was born September 7, 1940 in Marbledale, Tenn., and was graduated from Farragut High School in Knoxville, Tenn. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, March 1991
