Loren W. Penquite

SUN CITY, Ariz. - Memorial services for Loren W. Penquite, 88, of Sun City, Ariz., a former resident of Mingo, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, at the Mingo United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Robert Gamble, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Private family burial services will be held at Graham Cemetery.

Memorials to the United Methodist Church or the organization of the donor's choice will be accepted.

Wallace-Pence Funeral Home in Newton is handling arrangements.

He died Saturday, May 7, at his home in Sun City following a heart attack.

Survivors are a sister, Virginia (Mrs. Richard) Stebbings of Keokuk; three nephews; a niece; and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Cecil, November 27, 1992, and a brother, Dr. Ivan Penquite.

Mr. Penquite, a member of the Mingo United Methodist Church, an affiliate member of the Lakeview United Methodist Church in Sun City, was a longtime member of the Farm Bureau and a member of the Newton Elks Lodge.

He had farmed for many years in the Mingo community, moving to Arizona in 1977.

The son of the Elmer and Lena Ethel Watt Penquite, he was born December 2, 1905 in Rhodes and was graduated from Colfax Community High School.

He was married to Cecil Geisler May 6, 1933 in Menlo. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, May 1994
