Arden "Pat" Patterson

PRAIRIE CITY - Funeral services for Arden Eugene "Pat" Patterson, 62 of Prairie City, retired Prairie City insurance agent, were held Tuesday, November 16 at the Prairie City United Methodist Church.

The Rev. Reg Merrill, pastor of the church, conducted services.

Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Preston Masonic Lodge of Prairie City conducted Masonic rites that Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City Sunday evening.

Mr. Patterson, a resident of Prairie City since 1970, died Friday at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Survivors are his wife, Norma; a son and daughter-in-law, Dallas and Connie of Johnston; a daughter, Elaine Fritz of Des Moines; four step-children, Schelly (Mrs. Donald) Gorman and Stacey (Mrs. Richard) Sickora, both of Colfax; Susan (Mrs. Gary) Curtis of Riverside and David and Kathy French of Prairie City; 12 grandchildren; and his mother, Alice Patterson of Creston.

Also surviving are three brothers, Jack of Denver, Colo., Donovan of Macksburg and Robert of West Des Moines.

Mr. Patterson was owner operator of Pat Patterson Insurance Agency until his retirement in 1970.

He was a member of the Prairie City United Methodist Church, Crusade Masonic Lodge in Greenfield, Prairie City odd Fellows Lodge and the Prairie City Lions Club.

The son of Arthur and Alice Johnson Patterson, he was born July 19, 1930 in Orient.

He was a graduate of Riverside High School in Adair County, attended Drake University in Des Moines and was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1992
