Pearl Painter, 93 of Newton died of a heart ailment Tuesday at home. Private services will be today, with burial of the cremains in Newton Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Painter was born in Illinois and lived in Newton more than 60 years. She was co-owner of area Dairy Queen restaurants and had been a member of First Presbyterian Church.

Among survivors are a daughter, Patricia King of Iowa City; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Newton Public Library. Wallace-Pence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1994

Pearl Painter

Pearl Wallace Painter, 93, of Park Centre, a resident of Newton for more than 60 years, died of heart failure Tuesday evening, Nov. 22, at her home.

Private family services will be held Saturday.

The Rev. William Calhoun, pastor of the Newton First Presbyterian Church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Memorials to the Newton Public Library will be accepted.

Wallace-Pence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Don King of Iowa City; two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Painter was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Virgil Eugene Painter May 24, 1966.

A member of the Newton First Presbyterian Church, she taught school for several years and was co-owner of are Dairy Queens.

The daughter of Arleigh and Henrietta Chadwick Wallace, she was born Oct. 15, 1901 in Venice, Ill.

She was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University at Kirksville. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1994.
