Billy J. Padavich

Billy Joe Padavich, 56, of 221. S. 3rd Ave. E., a resident of Newton since 1964, died Tuesday, June 21, at the Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Community Heights Alliance Church.

The Rev. Ray Mastin, pastor of the Trinity Faith Centre Church in Promise City, the Rev. Bill Adams, Associate Pastor of Community Heights Alliance Church and the Rev. Dan Fitzpatrick of Carthage, Mo. will conduct services. Burial will be in Mount Ararat Cemetery in Centerville.

Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home after 1 p.m. Thursday and visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Christian motorcycle Association will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara; a son, Billy Jr., of Newton; a daughter, Rebecca (Mrs. Michael) Sherod of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and two granddaughters.

Also surviving are her brother, Robert of Urbandale; and his mother, Lisa Padovich of Centerville.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Padavich, a forklift operator at the Maytag Co. for 31 years, was an Army veteran.

He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, for which he was Iowa area representative, the Triumph Tourers Christian Motorcycle Association, Gold wing Road Riders Association, Six Seasons Christian Riders, American motorcycle Association, and the Retreads.

The son of Joe and Letha Flowers Padovich, he was born November 19, 1937 in Centerville and attended Centerville schools.

He was married to Barbara Houser November 3, 1957 in Uniondale. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1994
