Marvis Vaughn

Funeral services for Marvis Trotter Vaughn, 52, a lifelong resident of Newton, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

Father Frederick Kramer, chaplain of Skiff Medical Center, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon today and visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Vaughn died Wednesday morning at the Skiff Medical Center.

Survivors are her husband, Joe; a son, Joel of Marshalltown; a daughter, Julie (Mrs. Alaric) Catlett of Marshalltown; and four grandchildren.

Also surviving are a brother Mike Trotter of Newton; five sisters, Ruth (Mrs. Vern) Harger, Nada (Mrs. Marvin) Allspach and Marvel (Mrs. Lynn) Jones, all of Newton, Marsha Kay Sneller of Prairie City and Marna (Mrs. Marvin) Beach of Grinnell, and her parents, George and Gertrude Trotter of Newton.

Mrs. Vaughn had been employed at the Jasper County Care Facility southeast of Newton.

The daughter of George and Gertrude Van Baale Trotter, she was born Nov. 25, 1938 in Newton and attended Newton Community High School.

She was married to Joe Vaughn Aug. 2, 1958 in Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 1992
