FORT MADISON - Marie De Reus Vander Leest, 85, of 1102 48th St., Fort Madison, A former Prairie City and Mitchellville resident, died Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Union Presbyterian Church in Fort Madison.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Dr. Marvin Potter, pastor of the church, will conduct services at the church and at the cemetery.

Friends may call at the King-Lynk Funeral Home in Fort Madison until time of services.

Memorials to the United Presbyterian educational unit.

Survivors are two sons, Kenneth F. of Peoria, Ill., and Norman G. of Fort Madison; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Henry De Reus of Prairie City and William De Reus of Des Moines.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in November, 1970, a grandchild, seven brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Vander Leest, a homemaker, was a member of Union Presbyterian Church, Fort Madison Senior Citizens, Circle II of the church and Kings Daughters.

The daughter of Henry and Nellie Steenhoek De Reus, she was born Feb. 25, 1907 in Pella.

She was married to Arthur H. Vander Leest Dec. 28, 1926 in Mitchellville. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1992
