CEDAR RAPIDS - Ina L. Honnold Umble, 86, of Heritage Acres in Cedar Rapids, a former longtime resident of Jasper County, died Tuesday, June 12, at Heritage Acres.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe.

The Rev. Al Kinrade, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Prairie City will conduct services. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.

Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Thursday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Newton RSVP may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are two sons, Roger of Clinton and Mark of the Prairie city; a daughter, Karen Mrs. Don Moody of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl, in 1951, parents and two sisters.

Mrs. Umble, who had resided in Cedar Rapids since 1983, was a member of the Newton Retired Teachers Organization and RSVP.

She had taught school for 30 years, including rural Prairie City-Monroe schools, Albion and Dunbar and retired in 1968 from Newton Community Schools in which she had been in the special education department.

The daughter of John and Ellen Dietrick Honnold, she was born July 30, 1903 in Marion County, was a 1921 graduate of Monroe High School and attended Des Moines University. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1990
