Ethel Uitermarkt

PELLA - Ethel Boat Uitermarkt, 76, of Pella, a native of Prairie City and longtime resident of the Otley community, died Sunday, February 3, at the Pella Community Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Otley Reformed Church.

The Rev. Kenneth Dykstra and the Rev. Tom Kirkman will conduct services. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Friends may call at the Pella Garden Chapel Funeral Home all day Tuesday and family visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Otley Reformed Church may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, Dick; three sons, Adrian, Arnold and Robert, all of Otley; a daughter, Arlene Van Zante of Pella; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Marian Boat of Pella and Floyd Boat of Crawfordsville, Ind., and two sisters, Leota Van Zante of Otley and Loretta Van Zee of Pella.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Ernest Boat.

A homemaker, Mrs. Uitermarkt was an employee of Pella Community Schools, working in the kitchen.

The daughter of Andrew and Ella Roorda Boat, she was born Aug. 14, 1914 in Prairie City and attended Bunker Hill School northwest of Pella.

She was married to Dick Uitermarkt Jan. 29, 1942 in Des Moines.

Mrs. Uitermarkt resided in Des Moines for 12 years and in Runnells and Monroe before moving to Otley where she resided for 38 years.

She had been a resident of Pella for the past twon years. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, February 1991
