James D. Jones Dies today; Rites Wednesday

KILLDUFF - James D. Jones, 74, a resident of Killduff since 1973, died this morning at the Skiff Memorial Hospital in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Wallace Funeral Home in Newton. Burial will be in the Sully Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Mcontributions to the Cancer Society will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Thelma; a daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Norma) Waters of Newton; three granddaughters, Mrs. Myron (Cynthia) Norman of Newton, Mrs. Brad (Kathleen) Crews of Newberg, Ore., and Mrs. Merlyn (Jody) Elscott of Sully; and two great-grandchildren, Kristine and Jerad Norman, both of Newton.

Also surviving are three brothers, Ralph of Sigourney, Everett of Sun City, Ariz., and Harold of Hayesville; and a sister, Lulu Heninger of Hedrick.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Herbert, in 1934.

Mr. Jones, a member of the Killduff United Methodist Church, practiced dentistry in Clovis, N. M., retiring to Carbondale, Colo., before moving to Killduff.

The son of Wilson and Julia Utterback Jones, he was born Dec. 15, 1903 at Haysville and was a 1927 graduate of the University of Iowa dental school in Iowa City.

He was married to Thelma Klein July 7, 1927 at Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, July 1978
