Robert N. Jones

Robert N. "Bob" Jones, 62, of 30 D Sunrise Terrace, a resident of Newton since 1952, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 12, at his home of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of God.

The Rev. David Rex, pastor of the church, assisted by the Rev. Steve Evans of Imperial, Mo., will conduct services. Burial will be at Newton Union Cemtery.

Friends may call at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home today. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. today.

Memorials to a fund in his name will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Jean; two sons, Steven and David, both of Des Moines; three daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Gary) Lester and Pamela Lester, borh of Newton, and Debra (Mrs. John) Carman of Amazonia, Mo.; and 11 grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Joel Walk of Newton and Gregory Jones of Des Moines; and two sisters, Darlene (Mrs. Thomas) Quinn of Runnells and Barbara (Mrs. Robert) Luthe of Altoona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Brown.

Mr. Jones, a supervisor at the Riverview Release Cetner from 1977 until retiring in 1991, was a member of the Church of God and the AFSCME Union.

The son of Wilbur P. and Irene Watts Jones, she was born March 5, 1929 in Polk County, attended schoos in Iowa and Illinois, a business college in Joliet, Ill., and a Bible college in Oklahoma.

He was married to Jean O'Brien Aug. 30, 1972 in Unionville, Mo. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Ocotober 1991
