Louis E. Jansen

PELLA - Louis E. Jansen, 93, of Pella, a former longtime resident of Jasper County, died Saturday, April 13, at Pella Community Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Van Dyke-Duven Funeral Home in Pella.

The Rev. Vardaman White, pastor of the Lynnville Church of God, will conduct services. Burial will be in Sully Cemetery.

Family visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to the American Diabetes Association may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Henrietta; four sons, Harris L. of Springfield, Mo., L. Wayne of Knoxville, Dale L. of Pella, and Lowell of Chickasha, Okla.; two daughters, Lola M. (Mrs. Earl) Kline of Newton and Norma F. (Mrs. Leroy) Bartlow of Oskaloosa; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Gerrit, John, Henry, William and Cornelius, and a sister, Elizabeth (Mrs. Abraham) Vos.

Mr. Jansen was a charter member of the Lynnville Church of God.

The son of Everett and Wilhelmina Jansen, Jansen (typed as written), he was born June 13, 1897 in The Netherlands.

He came to the United States with his parents in 1905, settling northeast of Killduff.

Mr. Jansen attended Sudlow Country School.

After his marriage to Henrietta Elscott Jan. 3, 1923 in Des Moines, they farmed in the Lynnville and Sully area until moving to Pella in 1955.

Mr. Jansen operated a service station in Pella, and later in Pleasantville, returning to Pella in 1962 after his retirement. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, April 1991
