PELLA - Kenneth L. Jansen, 58, of Pella, a former resident of Jasper County, died Saturday morning, August 10, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Pella.

Dr. Gary D. Smith will conduct services.

Burial with military honors will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Pella.

Friends may call today at Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home at Pella.

Memorials to the kidney foundation will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Barbara; a son, Steven L. of Pella; a daughter, Cheryl L. (Mrs. Bradley) Veenstra of Pella; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Jansen, a member of the First Baptist Church and American Legion post 89, both of Pella, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

A cook in the U. S. Army until his discharge in 1955, Mr. Jansen had worked for many years at the Maytag Co. and from 1958 until retiring in 1989 at Rolscreen in Pella.

He was born February 13, 1933 in Vandalia. He was raised by his adoptive parents, Gerrit J. and Mattie Lancer Jansen in the Sully area. He was educated in Sully Christian Grade School and later worked on the Jansen farm.

He was married to Barbara Jean Buyert February 10, 1953 in Sully. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1991
