J. H. Jansen, 62, Longtime Resident of Sully Area, Dies

SULLY - John Henry Jansen, 62, of Sully, a longtime Jasper County area farmer, died Tuesday at his home northeast of Killduff.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Sully Christian Reformed Church.

The Rev. Fred Houten, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sully Cemetery.

Memorial contributions to the Christian Opportunity Center in Pella will be accepted.

Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home in Pella is handling arrangements.

Survivors are his wife, Alice; two sons, Verland D. and Gene L., both of Sully; a daughter, Mrs. Vernon D. (Catherine) Moore of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; two brothers,Gerrit J. and Herman, both of Sully; and three sisters, Mrs. John (Bertha) Van Genderen and Mrs. Nellie Harthoorn, both of Sully, and Mrs. John (Effie) Vos of Sacramento, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and three sisters.

The son of John Dirk and Jane Plate Jansen, he was born March 21, 1916 north of Sully and attended Sully rural schools.

He was married to Alice Van Norden February 18, 1938 at Sully. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, Aug. 1978
