Gertrude Jabaai

PRAIRIE CITY - Funeral services for Gertrude De Vries Jabaai, 80, a longtime resident of Prairie City, were held Monday, June 24, at the First Reformed Church in Prairie City.

The Rev. Joel Brummel, pastor of the church, conducted services. Burial was in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Memorials to the First Reformed Church will be accepted.

Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie City handled arrangements.

She died Saturday at the Clearview Manor in Prairie City.

Survivors are her husband, David; a son, Laurence of Fishers, Ind.; a daughter, Beverly (Mrs. Junior) Kool of Naperville, Ill.; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two step-sisters, Gysbertha Kramer of Pella and Agatha Ver Hey of San Dimas, calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Bertha; a grandson and a granddaughter.

Mrs. Jabaai was a member of the First Reformed Church in Prairie City and the F and F Club.

The daughter of Gerrit and Blanche Vander Werff De Vries, she was born Aug. 11, 1910 in Leighton.

She was married to David Jabaai Aug. 15, 1935 in Prairie City. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1991
