GRINNELL - Proctor Odell Stepp, 87, of Kellogg died Tuesday, may 17, at Friendship Manor in Grinnell.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home in Grinnell.
The Rev. Lon L. Lewis, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, will conduct services.
Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery in Grinnell.
Friends may call at the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Hall in Grinnell following burial.
Memorials to the March of Dimes will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Dorothy, of Kellogg; two brothers, Bates of Newton and Earl of Kellogg; a sister, Lisa Hesson of Newton; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gary Arthur, and a sister, Roxie Noethe.
Mr. Stepp was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge and Moose Lodge, both of Newton, and the United Auto Workers, local 997, Retirees Union
in Newton.The son of F. M. and Hattie Crocket Stepp, he was born May 11, 1907 in Jamestown, Tenn., and moved as a young child with his family to Kellogg.
He was educated in Kellogg area schools.
He was married to Dorothy Alice Hotchkin October 31, 1932 in Rock Island, Ill.
They farmed near Kellogg until 1941 when he was employed at the Maytag Co. in Newton.
He retired from plant 1 maintenance in 1972 after 31 years and for several years was a groundskeeper at Rock Creek State Park northeast of Kellogg. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, May 1994
