KNOXVILLE - Funeral services for Sibyl Mae Donahue Riherd, 76, of Knoxville, a former resident of rural Newton, were held today, March 7, at the Williams Funeral Home at Knoxville.

The Rev. Robert Wells conducted services. Burial was in Red Rock Cemetery.

Visitation with the family was held Sunday.

Memorials to the Knoxville Church of Christ will be accepted.

She died Thursday at the Pella Community Hospital of complications of Alzheimer's Disease.

Survivors are her husband, James; two sons, William O. of Pella and Phillip J. of Spanish Fort, Ala.; two daughters, Jane Clingman-Utterback of Newton and Sylvia "Sally" Shaw of Newton; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are three brothers, Richard Donahue of Mankato, Minn., Raymond Donahue of Monroe and Lloyd Donahue of San Diego, Calif.; and two sisters, Ruth Hager of North Mankato Minn., and Orvilla Murphy of Torrance, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kenneth and Donald Donahue.

Mrs. Riherd had been employed at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Knoxville as a nursing assistant, retiring in 1974.

The daughter of Orville and Birdy Donahue, she was born October 20, 1917 in Park Rapids, Minn.

She was married to James Riherd September 24, 1940 in Rock Rapids. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, March 1994
