Lionel E. Doolittle
Lionel E. "Jim" Doolittle, 80, of 7301 College Drive died of a neurological disorder Saturday at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, of which he was a member. The body has been donated to the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Sciences.
Mr. Doolittle was born in Webster City and had lived in Des Moines most of his life. He was a retired sales engineer for Clay Equipment in Cedar Falls, a Navy veteran of World War II, and a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Kiwanis Club and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; two sons, John of Prairie City and Clark of Muscatine; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to his church or the Shriners Hospital for Children. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, October 1990
