Mrs. Emma Hughes Died Monday At Colfax

Mrs. David (Emma Adline) Hughes, 94, a lifelong resident of Colfax, died Monday evening, April 19th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Agnes McNeer, in Colfax. She had been in failing health for the past year.

The daughter of Fred and Mary Ann Whipkey Stienberger, she was born February 12, 1871 at Colfax.

Mrs. Hughes was a member of the Colfax Methodist Church.

She was married to David Hughes on November 27, 1890 at Colfax. Ten children were born to this union.

Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her husband and three children, Thomas, Fred, and Marybell.

Survivors are four sons, David William Hughes of Hastings, Neb., John and Daniel Hughes, both of Newton and Henry Hughes of Spirit Lake, Iowa; Three daughters, Mrs. Sarah Camp and Mrs. Agnes McNeer, both of Colfax and Mrs. Margaret Johnson of Reseda, Ca.; 13 grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; also a nephew, Dan L. Price of Colfax and a niece Mrs. Elsie Grunhaupt of Newton.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 22nd at 2 p.m. at the Colfax Methodist Church. Rev. Dale Nicholson, minister of the church will conduct the services.

Hymns will be sung by John and Charles McNeer of Newton with Miss Eleanor Howell the accompanist.

Bearers will be John McNeer. Harry Linn, Frank W. Evans, James McNeer, Danny McNeer, and Kenneth Hughes.

Mrs. Raymond Zachary and Mrs. Paul Hill will serve on the flower committee.

Burial will be in the McKeever Cemetery.
