Ronald R. Roll

COLFAX - Ronald R. Roll, 62, a longtime resident of Colfax, died today, May 18, at his home in Colfax.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Howard Street Christian Church.

The Rev. Tom Carpe, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Mc Keever Cemetery, North of Colfax.

Friends may call after noon Friday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax and visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Colfax Kiwanis Christmas Children's project will be accepted.

Survivors are his wife, Evelyn; five sons and daughters in law, Eddy and Clysta of Newton, Robert of Whitewater, Wisc., Jeffrey and Patricia of Boone, Michael of Des Moines and Terence and Kathy of Monroe; two daughters and a brother-in-law, Debra and Michael Patrick and Tamara Roll, all of Colfax; and 20 grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Robert of Troy, N. Y. and Harold of Rockford, Ill.; a sister, Deloris (Mrs. Ivan) Huen of Collins; a half-brother, Gary of Marshalltown; and two step-sisters, Patricia (Mrs. Charles) Arnold of Monroe and Betty Myers of Bode.

He was preceded in death by parents, a sister, an infant brother, his step-mother and a grandson.

Mr. Roll, a veteran of the Marine Corps, had been employed at Ford Motor Co. in Des Moines until 1986 and at John Deere in Ankeny until his retirement in 1991.

He was a member of the Howard Street Christian Church, the Kiwanis Club and the United Auto Workers and had been a longtime Scoutmaster.

The son of Gerald and Hazel Lawrence Roll, he was born October 17, 1931 in Marshalltown.

He was married to Evelyn Vander Leest February 15, 1953 in Sully. ~ Newspaper unknown, possibly the Newton (IA) Daily News or the Des Moines (IA) Register, May 1994
