Arzetta Z. Ringgenberg

Arzetta Z. Hurley Ringgenberg, 85, of Newton, a resident of Newton since 1924, died Sunday morning, May 22 at Skiff Medical Center of complications of emphysema.

The Rev. Bill Adams, associate pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the church after 3 p.m. today and visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the church. Wallace-Pence Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials of Hospice of Jasper County will be accepted.

Survivors are son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Joyce of Newton; two daughters, Vonda Ringgenberg and Linda Carpenter, both of Newton; three grandsons; a granddaughter; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Carvalee Brooks of Newton; and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband H. G. "Jack" Ringgenberg May 15, 1986, a grandson in infancy, five brothers, Edger, Clyde, Ovid, Aley, and Roy Hurley, and a sister Bessie Vestal.

Mrs. Ringgenberg, a homemaker, was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church and the 50-50 club.

The daughter of John and Sarah Cullum Hurley, she was born Oct. 31, 1908 in Graysville, Mo., and attended rural Graysville schools.

She was married to H. G. "Jack" Ringgenberg September 5, 1931 in Rock Island, Ill. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, May 1994
