Lona Pearl Thomas, 88, of Prairie City died of Alzheimer's disease Thursday at Clearview Manor, where she was a resident. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Runnells Christian Church and burial will be in Lowman Cemetery.

Mrs. Thomas, a homemaker, was born in Heber Springs, Ark., and moved to Runnells in 1936. She was a member of the Christian Church and Ernest Wade American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are three sons, Howard of Unionville Mo., and Edward and Richard both of Runnells; a stepson, Bailey Thomas of Conway, Ark.; a daughter, Thelma Freel of Unionville; a brother, Elmo Ghent of Altoona; a sister, Hazel Danley of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to her church. Richardson Funeral Home in Carlisle is handling arrangements. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, December 1991
