Carroll A. Tribby

COLFX - Carroll Amos Tribby, 65, a resident of Colfax for 20 years and lifelong resident of Jasper and Marshall Counties, died Saturday, Nov. 24, at skiff Medical Center in Newton.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. David Mc Neely, pastor of the Colfax Assembly of God will conduct services.

Burial will be in Eden Cemetery in Rhodes.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Colfax Food Pantry may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Fonda; two sons, Carroll Dean of Laurel and Clifford of Melbourne; two daughters, Shirley (Mrs. Rodney) Phillips of Haverhhill and Eleanor (Mrs. Harold) Murphy of Colfax; nine grandchildren; and a brother, Jerry Gummert of Riverside, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Tribby was a member of the Newton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1655 and a Jones-Willis American Legion Post at Colfax.

The son of Junie and Eleanor Stier Tribby, he was born February 25, 1925 at Rhodes.

He was married to Fonda Rinard August 13, 1945 at Marshalltown.

He retired from Townsend Industries in Altoona in February. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1990
