Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon of last week for Arthur W. Ebert, 84, of Langdon, long-time Manilla Township farmer. Mr. Ebert died Tuesday, September 23, 1980, at a Langdon hospital.
The funeral was held in Episcopal Church of Our Savior in Langdon with the Rev. Robert Woodard officiating. Mrs. Milton Pearson was the organist and the congregation sang “Faith of Our Fathers” and “Rock of Ages”.
Interment was in Lebanon Cemetery at Langdon. Casket bearers were Ronald Tollefson, Wallace Hawken, Larry Murie, Bruce Tollefson, Edwin Pearson and James Symons.
Arthur William Ebert was born January 21, 1896, at Newton, Iowa. He was the son of Wilhelm Herman Ebert and Anna Koppien Ebert, early day Manilla Township farm couple. His mother died May 14, 1942, and his father passed away September 19, 1959.
The family came to Cavalier County in 1905 and settled in Manilla Township, where Arthur Ebert was reared and farmed until 1974, when he retired and moved to Langdon. He was a member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior.
He and Winnifred Jane Rourke were married April 19, 1926, at Lakota. They were honored on the occasion of their golden wedding anniversary June 27, 1976, at a large gathering in the Episcopal church. Mrs. Ebert died September 19, 1978.
Roy Ebert of Langdon is a brother who survives, as do two sisters and several nieces and nephews. The sisters are Miss Dorothy Ebert of Langdon and
Mrs. Gertrude Stevenson of Everett, Wash.
