Funeral services are being held this afternoon (Wednesday) for Roy A. Ebert, 81, long-time resident of the Langdon community. He died Sunday, October 5, 1980, at a Langdon hospital.
The funeral is being held in Langdon United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James G. Towler officiating. Mrs. Judy Kram will be the organist and the congregation will sing “Faith of Our Fathers” and “Rock of Ages”.
Interment will be in Lebanon Cemetery at Langdon. Casket bearers will be Kenneth Welsh, Leslie Welsh, Curtis Welsh, Larry Murie, Wallace Hawken and James Symons. All his neighbors and friends have been designated honorary bearers.
Roy August Ebert was born April 9, 1899, in Jasper County, Iowa. He was the son of Wilhelm Herman Ebert and Anna Koppin Ebert, early-day Manilla Township farm couple. His mother died May 14, 1942, and his father passed away September 19, 1959.
The family came from Iowa to Cavalier County in 1905 and settled in Manilla Township, where he was reared. He farmed in the Langdon vicinity until 1973, when he moved into Langdon. He was associated with the United Methodist Church. He had never married.
Miss Dorothy Ebert of Langdon and Mrs. Gertrude Stevenson of Everett, Washington, are two sisters who survive. A brother, Arthur Ebert, died September 23 of this year.
Funeral arrangements were in charge of Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon.
