BAXTER - Carol Jean Petemeier Pyle, 57, of Baxter, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, died Thursday, Aug. 8, at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Baxter.

The Rev. Darrell Bailey, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Restand Cemetery in Baxter.

Friends may call at the Boyd-Davis Funeral Home in Baxter after 4 p.m. Saturday. Visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Memorials to family will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband, Gary; three sons, Ross and David, both of Baxter, and Scott of Cedar falls; a daughter, Janie (Mrs. Stephen) Smith of Baxter; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Pyle was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, and an officer in the churches Women's Fellowship for many years.

Active in various community affairs, she was the 1986 Baxter Citizen of the year.

Mrs. Pyle was a Baxter Communities School bus driver for 15 years and head cook in the school's hot lunch program for seven years.

The daughter of Clarence and Florence Saak Petermeier, she was born October 30, 1933 in Marshalltown and was raised and educated in Baxter. She was a graduate of Baxter Community High School.

She was married to Gary Pyle October 3, 1952 in the Baxter. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, August 1991
