COLFAX - Jared Eugene Kono, 22, of Colfax Monday, June 11, died of injuries suffered in a motorcycle camper accident at the intersection of Iowa-117 and Interstate-80 North of Colfax.

Graveside rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Colfax Cemetery.

The Rev. John Mc Kinstry, pastor of the Howard Street Christian Church, will conduct services.

Friends may call at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax Wednesday afternoon.

Survivors are his mother, Joanne Cummings of Colfax; three brothers, Steven and Brick, both of Colfax and Jason of Des Moines; two sisters, Wendy Patterson of Colfax and Susanna Kono of New Virginia; and his grandmothers, Anna Kono of Baxter and Mrs. Marvin Howell of Colfax.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Mr. Kono was employed in the sheet metal department of the Maytag Co. in Newton.

The son of Lowell and Joanne Howell Kono, he was born March 16, 1968 in Newton and was a 1986 graduate of Colfax-Mingo Community High School. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1990
