Maxine R. Roney

Maxine Rae Noe Roney, 57, of 500 E. 12th St. Pl. N., a resident of Newton since 1954, died Sunday, May 26, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Todd Schlitter, associate pastor of the Newton First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Palo Alto Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 8 a.m. Wednesday. Visitation with the family will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society for research will be accepted.

Survivors are her husband, Robert "Bear"; a son, Nick of Rt. 3, Newton; two daughters, Debbie (Mrs. Bob) Knopf of Salisbury, N.C., and Cheryl (Mrs. Craig) Whalen of Broken Arrow, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.

Also surviving are seven brothers, John Noe of Newbern, Tenn., Darrell Noe of Hot Springs, Ark., Donald Noe of Las Cruces, N.M., Dean Noe of Malden, Mo., Harold Noe of Harrisburg, Ark., Kenneth Noe of Andover, Ill., and Gary Noe of Malden, Mo; and three sisters, Louise (Mrs. Bill) Headley of Malden, Mo., Marie Forrest of Flint, Mich., and Betty Dye of Malden, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Mrs. Roney retired in September, 1983, after being employed by Yonkers in Newton for 23 years.

The daughter of Lester and Pearl L. Santie Noe, she was born November 23, 1933 in Perry County, Missouri, and was a graduate of Malden, Mo., High School.

She was married to Robert J. Roney January 1, 1952 at Pocahontas, Arkansas ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, May 1991
