COLFAX - Funeral services for Irene Edwards Main, 78 of Colfax, a lifelong resident of Jasper County, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10, at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax.

The Rev. Michael Orthel, pastor of the Colfax First United Methodist Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday and family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Colfax Senior Citizens may be left at the funeral home.

Mrs. Main died Sunday evening at her home.

Survivors are her husband, Dale; two sons, Jack of Colfax and Walter of St. Charles, Mo.; a daughter, Connie Dixon of Mesa, Ariz.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Lytle and Lloyd Edwards.

Mrs. Main was a member of the Colfax First United Methodist Church, thr Woman's Society of Christian Service of the Church and the Happy Hour Club.

The daughter of Harry and Lydia Sager Edwards, she was born December 30, 1913 in Mingo.

She was a graduate of Colfax Community High School.

She was married to Dale Main Aug. 8, 1933 in Des Moines. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, January 1991
