COLFAX - Funeral services for Bertha Withers Mellor, 86, a longtime resident of Colfax, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 29, at the Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax

Burial will be in Colfax Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home afternoon Wednesday and family visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, James; six sons, John Shuey of Prairie city, Glen Shuey of Colfax, James Mellor of Beardstown, Ill., Richard Shuey of Torrance, Calif., Larry Shuey of Rhodes and Jerry Mellor of Colfax; two daughters, Dorothy Hendee of Colfax and Shirley Clippinger of Colorado Springs,Colo.; 22 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Selena Burt of Bloomington, Minn..

Mrs. Meller (Note: Spelling typed as written in obit), a cook at the Colfax schools for many years, was a member of the Colfax United Methodist Church.

The daughter of Henry & Sina Vogel Weithers, she was born September 20, 1904 in Hedrick.

She was married to James Mellor may 30, 1940 in St. Louis, Mo.

Mrs. Meller (Note: Spelling typed as written in obit) died Monday at Clearview Manor in Prairie City. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, November 1990
