Donald R. Mettler Jr.

Donald R. Mettler Jr., 16, of 809 1st St. N., a resident of Newton for a year, died Saturday morning, October 12, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. H. Eugene Cederholm, pastor the First Lutheran Church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Newton Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home afternoon today. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials to a fund in his name may be left at the funeral home.

Survivors are two brothers, Seth Frdericks and Joshua Fredricks, both of Apache Junction, Ariz; four sisters, Jennifer Mettler of Newton and Melissa Fredricks, Katrina Fredericks and Sarah Fredricks, all of Apache Junction, Ariz.; his father and stepmother, Donald and Nanette Mettler of Newton; and his mother, Catherine E. Cooper of Apache Junction, Ariz.

Also surviving are his paternal grandparents, Maynard and Donna Mettler of Newton; maternal grandparents, James and Opal Cooper of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Betty Hamilton of Des Moines; his paternal great-grandfather, a Carl O. Repp of Newton and his paternal great-grandmother, Irene Milburn of Fort Dodge.

He was preceded in death by his paternal great-grandmother, Irene Repp, and his paternal great-grandparents, Edward Mettler and Erna Mettler.

Mr. Mettler was employed by Sizzlin' Sams.

The son of Donald R. and Catherine E. Cooper Mettler Sr., he was born April 7, 1975 in Des Moines. He was a junior at Newton Community High School. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News october 1991
