Edna M. Long

Funeral services for Edna M. Bruner Long, 80, a resident of the Newton Health Care Center for five years and formerly of 1315 S. to 9th Ave. E., will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 5, at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.

The Rev. Jerry Brown, senior pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will conduct services and burial will be in Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home and visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Mrs. Long died Wednesday after a stroke and Skiff Medical Center.

Survivors are her husband, I. Ray; a son, Tommy Long and his wife, Sheril, of Newton; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson.

Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Adam Brunner, and two sisters, Eleanor Brunner and Ethel Vriezelaar.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

A 1930 graduate of Newton Community High School, she was employed in Newton by Montgomery Wards, Spurgeon's, and Nollen Drug Store.

The daughter of M. S. and Anna Kling Brunner, she was born July 11, 1910 in Sully.

She was married to I. Ray Long Feb. 6, 1949 at the First United Methodist Church.

She had been a resident of Newton since December 10, 1916. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, January 1991
