CLARION - Services for Dorothy E. Henry, 75 of Clarion, a former home economics teacher in the Newton Community Schools were held Monday, June 27, at the first United Methodist Church in Clarion.
The Rev. Charles Kellogg conducted services and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
A flag presentation was given by the Clarion American Legion.
Surviving is a brother, C. William of Newton.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Miss Henry, a home economics teacher, served in the Army Women's Air Service Pilots (WASP) organization during World War II. After the war she returned to teaching prior to joining the military services as a teacher and principal in Germany, Japan, Korea, Spain, Turkey and Greece.
Miss Henry, who retired in 1984, was a member of the Clarmond Country Club.
She was born February 26, 1919 in Clarion, was a 1937 graduate of Clarion High School and a 1941 graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids. She received her master's degree from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News June 1994
