Anna P. Hendricks, 80, of Newton died Monday at Skiff Medical Center of complications of an ulcer. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Andrews Cemetery near Sully.
Mrs. Hendricks was born in Otley and moved to Newton in 1959 and to Newton Health Care Center In 1987. She formerly worked at Maytag Dairy and later retired from Newton Manufacturing. She was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church of rural Sully.
Among survivors are a son, Leon of Newton; a daughter, Georgia Pierson of Des Moines; a brother Gary Gezel of Pella; four sisters, Maggie Van Roekel of Montezuma, Grace Borrall of Newton, Kathryn Rozenberg of Monroe and Dorothy Mullins of Reasoner; and two grandchildren.

Ann P. Gezel Hendricks, 80, of the Newton Health Care Center, a resident of Newton since 1959, died Monday morning, Jan. 16, at the Skiff Medical Center of complications of an ulcer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home.
The Rev. Robert Waters, pastor of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in rural Sully, will conduct services.Burial will be in St. Andrew's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 a.m. Wednesday.Memorials in her name may be left at the funeral home.
Survivors are a son, Leon, of Newton; a daughter, Georgia Pierson of Des Moines; a grandson; a granddaughter; a brother, Gary Gezel of Pella; and four sisters, Maggie Van Roekel of Montezuma, Grace (Mrs. John) Borrall of Newton, Kathryn Rozenberg of Monroe and Dorothy Mullins of Reasnor.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lester, in 1952, a son, Donnie, in 1978, a brother, Elmo Gezel, and a sister, Minnie Birkenholz.
Mrs. Hendricks, a member of St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in rural Sully, had been employed at the Maytag Dairy until 1960 and at Newton Manufacturing, retiring in 1965.
The daughter of John and Katie Zylstra Gezel, she was born Oct. 9, 1914 in Otley and attended rural Bunker Hill School.
She was married to Lester Hendricks May 29, 1934 in Kellogg.
Mrs. Hendricks resided in Galesburg prior to coming to Newton. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, January 1995
