Mildred B. Healy, 87, of rural newton died this moring, July 18, at Skiff Medical Center.

Reese Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements which have not been completed.

Funeral services for Mildred B. Sadler Healy, 87, of 3969 Maple St., Newton, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

The Reverend Cletus Healy of Milwaukee, Wis. and the Rev. Ernest Braida, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery.

Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Wake services will be held at 7 p.m. today at Reese Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 5 p.m. today and visitation with the family will be held follow [ing] wake services.

Memorials to Aid to the Church in Need will be accepted.

She died Monday morning at Skiff Medical Center of complications following surgery.

Survivors are a stepson, Fr. Cletus Healy of Milwaukee, Wis.; a daughter, Teresa Hauge of White House, Texas; a stepdaughter, Sister Camillus (Madine) Healy of Arlington, Va.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a half-sister, Viola Gildersleeve of Taneyville, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, three sons, Joe, Paul and Tommy, two daughters, Juanita and Loretta, two granddaughters, a grandson, a brother, a half brother and two half-sisters.

Mrs. Healy, who was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Mary and Martha Sewing Circle and Jasper County Senior Citizens, had been a housekeeper prior to her marriage.

She enjoyed metal artwork and ceramics and was known for her quilting and seamstress work.

The daughter of Ray and Lucinda Orendorf Saddler, she was born April 6, 1907 in Normal, Ill.

Mrs. Healy moved as a teenager to Iowa from Normal, Ill. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News July 1994
