MONROE - Funeral services for Donald Duane Van Baale, 54, a longtime resident of Monroe, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at the Monroe Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Thomas Bass, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Silent City Cemetery in Monroe.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. today at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Monroe.
Memorials to the church will be accepted.
Survivors are his wife, Mary; three sons, Michael Duane of Des Moines and Jeffery Alan and Troy Ray, both of Monroe; a daughter, Linda Marie Van Baale of Monroe; two grandchildren; and his mother, Margaret Van Baale of Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his father, a sister, Beverly Jean, and a brother, Jerry Ray.
Mr. Van Baale, who served in the Army Reserves from 1962 to 1968, was an employee of PAG-Cargill Hybid (typed as written) Seed in Monroe for 32 years.
He was a member of the Monroe Presbyterian Church, for which he served as an elder and deacon.
The son of Laurel Ray and Margret Snook Van Baale, he was born October 4, 1939 in Newton and was a 1958 graduate of Monroe Community High School.
He was married to Mary Adams June 21, 1962 in Monroe. ~ The Newton (IA) Daily News, June 1994
