SUGARLOAF, Calif. - Walter Pickering, 86, of Sugarloaf, Calif., a former resident of Newton, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, at Fontana Hospital in Fontana, Calif.

Survivors are his wife, the former Ruby Herwehe; a son, Gary P. of Pasadena, Calif.; three daughters, Saundra Hansen of Las Vegas, Nev., Linda Orr of Lancaster, Calif., and Londa Brookins of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Also survivig are three brothers, Jim Pickering of Tucson, Ariz., William Richards Sr. of Newton, Dick Richards of Phoenix, Ariz.; and a sister, Betty Herman of Kansas City, Mo.
