Funeral Services for Isaiah Hunter, Sunday

Died At His Home In This City Thursday Following Several Weeks Illness

Funeral services for Isaiah Hunter, 59, were conducted from the Colfax Methodist church Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Ivan R. Magers, pastor, officiating.

Mr. Hunter had been seriously ill for several weeks and everything possiable had been done for him but to no avil and he passed away Thursday, Aug. 19, at his home in this city.

He was a native of England, coming here as a young man to work at his trade as a coal miner. He followed this vocation all his life and during the past several years was one of the proprietors of the Cresent Coal Co.

Isaiah, son of George and Elizabeth Hunter, was born at Tollend, Tipton, Staffordshire, England, Oct. 27, 1883 and passed away at his home in Colfax august 19, 1943, aged 59 years 9 months and 21 days.

Mr. Hunter came to this country at the age of 22 years and made his home in Colfax. He was united in marriage to Ada Miller Dec. 31, 1916. To this union four children were born, three sons and a daughter. Donald, who is married and lives in Colfax, Darrold, who is in the U. S. Army, Wilbur and Margaret at home and one grandchild, David Lee Hunter, to whom he was greatly devoted.

Mr. Hunter was baptized in the Church of England when a small boy and has been true to his faith. He was a coal miner by trade and had the respect of all whith whom he worked.

Besides his immediate family, he leaves two brothers and two sisters, George Hunter of Colfax, Edward Hunter, Phoebe Jones and Mary Mills, all of England and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

He waspreceded in death by his father and mother, one brother, William and two sisters, Eliza and Elizabeth.

He was a kind and loving husband and father and was a good neighbor to his many friends.

Music for the service was furnished by Mrs. Earl Plummer, Mrs. B. F. VanDyke, John a. Davis and B. F. Van Dyke, with Miss Eleanor Howell accompanist.

Pallbearers were Frank Davidson, Thomas Roberts, Howard Williams, Edward Grosvenor, Arlo Acton, Ivan Binkard.

The Flower committee was Mrs. Frank Davidson and Mrs. August DeCamp.

Burial was had in the Colfax Highland cemetery.
