Mildred M. Sevenbergen, 68, of Newton died of cancer Friday at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Newton, of which she was a member, with burial at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Sevenbergen was born in Livonia, Mo., and had lived in Newton since 1953. She was a homemaker and a member of Jasper County Senior Citizens Sunshine Club, American Baptist Women's Club and Church Women Shelter.

Survivors include her husband, William; five sons, Keith of Newton, Robert of Ames, William Jr., of Des Moines, Richard of Jonesboro, Ga., and Roger of Barberton, Ohio; a daughter, Susan White of Newton; a brother, Virgil Roop of Hot Springs, Ark.; two sisters, Connie Wilson of Newton and Bonnie Sult of Maxwell; and 17 grandchildren.

Friends may call after 8 a.m. Monday at Wallace-Pence Funeral Home, where the family will be presnt from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to her church or the Hospice of Jasper County.

Mildred Sevenbergen

Mildred M. Roop Sevenbergen, 68, of 321 E. 22nd St. S., a resident of Newton since July, 1953, died Friday afternoon, Dec. 16, at Skiff Medical Center of cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church.

The Rev. Syd Mc Crorey, pastor of the church, will conduct services.

Burial will be in Newton Memorial park Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Wallace-Pence Funeral Home starting today and visitation with the family will be held from 6 to8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Survivors are her husband, William; five sons, Robert E. of Ames, William B. Jr. of Des Moines, Keith A. of Newton, Richard D. of Jonesboro, Ga., and Roger D. of Barberton, Ohio; a daughter, Susan K. (Mrs. Tim) White of Newton; 17 grandchildren; a brother, Virgil E. Roop of Hot Springs, Ark.; and two sisters, Bonnie L. (Mrs. Russell) Sult of Maxwell and Connie L. (Mrs. Robert) Wilson of Newton.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew.

Mrs. Sevenbergen, a homemaker, was a member of the First Baptist Church, Ruth-Naomi Church Circle, Jasper County Senior Citizens, Sunshine Clue, American Baptist Womens Club and Church Women United.

the daughter of Virgil A. and Chloe Faun Brown Roop, she was born Aug. 10, 1926 in rural Livonia, Mo., attended Missouri grade school and was a 1945 graduate of Grinnell High School.

She was married to William B. Sevenbergen Sr. July 6, 1945 in Iowa City.
