Geraldine Plate

PRAIRIE CITY - Geraldine Rouw Plate, 86, a longtime resident of the Prairie City community, died Monday, April 29 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church.

The Reverend Thomas Wetselaar, pastor of the church, will conduct services. Burial will be in Waveland Cemetery in Prairie City.

Memorials to the Prairie City Christian gradeschool may be left at Walters-Coburn Funeral Home in Prairie city

Survivors are three sons, John and Edward, both of Prairie City, and Donald of La Mars; four daughters, Joan (Mrs. Don) Ryerkerk of Mason City, Helen (Mrs. John) Tibboel of Newton, Kathryn (Mrs. Erwin) Frerichs of Des Moines and Marjorie (Mrs. Harold) Van Wyk of Prairie City; 26 grandchildren; and 30 when great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Johanna Schmidt of Sioux City and Henrietta Kuiper of Pella.

Mrs. plate was preceded in death by her parents, husband, T. M., three brothers, four sisters and a grandson.

She was a member of the Prairie City Christian Reformed Church and the church's Helping Hand Society.

The daughter of Everett and Gerritze Van Doorn Rouw, she was born May 24, 1904 at Veendaal, Gelterlant, The Netherlands.

She mas married to Tim Plate February 22, 1924 at Pella.

The Plates farmed in the Prairie City area for many years.
